IMI Level 3 Light Vehicle Inspection Technician

The IMI LVI Level 3 is designed for technicians involved in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of light vehicles who don’t already hold a Level 3 qualification. It is officially recognised by the DVSA and allows progression to MOT tester training for Class 3, 4, 5, or 7 vehicles.

To achieve the accreditation, candidates must complete both practical and knowledge-based assessments in areas such as:

• Vehicle Appraisal
• Vehicle Structure
• Steering & Suspension
• Emissions Systems
• Electrical Systems
• Braking Systems

Successful accreditation proves that a technician can:

• Inspect vehicles to required standards
• Perform emissions testing
• Diagnose electrical faults using wiring diagrams
• Carry out basic electrical repairs
